Ancient Antics

Our topic in Terms 5 & 6 is ‘Ancient Antics’. This is a history-based topic where we’ll learn lots of fascinating facts about the ancient civilisations of Greece and Rome. Imagine travelling back in time and bumping into a groovy Greek…Not groovy enough? How about visiting a rotten Roman? Buckle your seatbelt when you step onto the time machine – it’s going to be an exciting ride!

You can’t very well learn about the ancient Greeks without hearing some myths, so we read lots! With our heads buzzing with handsome heroes and murderous monsters, we write our own myths. This is an epic task but well worth it when you read the finished results.

We also learn about acrostic poetry and write our own poems about a beast from a very famous myth. As if all this wasn’t enough, we  become historians and study artefacts to learn just what went on at the ancient Greek Olympics. It’s amazing what you can find out!

As we move on through our learning journey, we learn about the Roman invasion of Britain and how the Celts rebelled. Look away now if you have a nervous disposition!
